One of the most common questions parents ask when their child begins piano lessons is, "What kind of piano do we need?" The simple answer: the best you can afford. After all, you're making an investment in your child's music education, and having a quality instrument makes all the difference.

Why Quality Matters

No child wants to practice on a low-quality instrument. The piano they use will impact both their enjoyment and progress. Here’s what I recommend for beginners:

  • Acoustic Piano or Digital Keyboard with Weighted Keys: A full-size, 88-key piano is ideal. Weighted keys help children develop the muscles in their arms, hands, and fingers, which leads to good technique and form as they progress.

  • Acoustic Piano Maintenance: If you decide to purchase an acoustic piano, it’s essential to have it tuned regularly to maintain its sound quality. A well-maintained piano provides a much richer learning experience.

Starting with the right piano sets your child up for success and encourages regular practice. 🎶

Happy playing!
